| Description | Quantum Corporation is a major manufacturer of hard disk drives and other high-technology storage components. Quantum faced two key challenges in its manufacturing process. - Finding a solution that would automate the ordering process to increase accuracy and efficiency, reduce on-hand inventory to three days, and provide buyers with more time for non-transactional tasks. - Improving the quality of the component data in their Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system to allow them to proactively catch problems before they caused production delays.
Although Quantum could have built an event detection and notification solution internally or used somewhat similar capabilities in its Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, the company decided that both options would be too time-consuming and inflexible. Only the Categoric system enabled Quantum to tap into multiple data sources to identify critical business events. In addition, installation of the Categoric software took less than two days, and many functions were written in minutes. |
